All of the five Vietnamese students taking part in the 40th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Mexico have won five silver medals.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, they are Nguyen Dinh Tung, 12th grader, from the Le Quy Don Senior Secondary School for Gifted Students in Da Nang city; Nguyen Phan Minh, 12th grader, majoring in physics from the Gifted Senior Secondary School under the Ho Chi Minh City National University; Pham Van Quyen, 11th grader, majoring in physics from the Le Hong Phong Senior Secondary School for Gifted Students in Nam Dinh city; Vu Hong Anh, 12th grader, from the Tran Phu Senior Secondary School for Gifted Students in Hai Phong city and Pham Thanh Long, 12th grader, from the Nguyen Trai Senior Secondary School for Gifted Students in Hai Duong province.
The IPhO took place from July 12 – 19.
Four Vietnamese students competing in the 20th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) 2009 from July 12 – 19 in Japan won one silver medal and three bronze medals.
They are Nguyễn Thị Thùy Trang, 12th grader, from the senior secondary bloc majoring in biology under the University of Natural Sciences, the Hanoi National University, who snatched a silver medal. Three bronze include Duong Thu Huong, 12th grader, from the Tran Phu Senior Secondary School for Gifted Students in Hai Phong city; Le Thuy Duong, 12th grader, from the Hanoi – Amsterdam Senior Secondary School for Gifted Students and Nguyen Thi Nhu Quynh, 12th graderr,the Lam Son Senior Secondary School for Gifted Students in Thanh Hoa city.
The 20th International Biology Olympiad had a participation of students from 56 countries and territories.
