Vietnam well ensures children's rights

PANO – A ceremony to mark 25 years since Vietnam ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child was organized in Hanoi on December 20th by the Vietnam Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs (MOLISA).
All domestic and foreign delegates at the event hailed Vietnam’s significant progress in implementing the rights of children since the country ratified the convention in 1990.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam thanked the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and other international friends for their contributions to the cause of child protection, care, and education in Vietnam.
The official affirmed that the convention is in accordance with the nation’s moral principles, and that the Vietnamese Party’s and State’s guidelines and policies are to offer the best things to the country’s future masters.
According to UNICEF in Vietnam, since 2000, the mortality rate of children under five has been halved from 39 per thousand to 20 per thousand live births while the number of stunted children has been reduced by nearly one third from 36 per cent to 25 per cent and the percentage of people who have access to safe drinking water has increased from 78 per cent to 92 per cent. At present, 95 per cent of children are receiving good education.
