A recent survey conducted by the Institute of Health Strategy and Policy revealed that Vietnam has about 15 millions of cigarette smokers and more than 4 millions of pipe tobacco smokers nationwide.

The Health Ministry’s National Programme on Tobacco Effect Prevention has launched the “National No Tobacco Week” from May 25th to 31st, in response to the “World No Tobacco Day” (May 31st).

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), smoking is one of the major causes of deadly diseases and cancers, with 90% of cases of lung cancer deaths resulting from smoking.

It is essential to raise public awareness of the dangerous health effects of smoking for every person, especially young people.
