The Foundation for Microprojects in Vietnam (FMV), a Swiss based non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO), has provided 105,000 USD to build social welfare projects in the central highlands province of Kon Tum.

These include one irrigation project and two schools building projects conducted in Dac To and Kon Plong districts, said Director of the provincial Department for Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Tinh on April 12.

Of the sum, 40,000 USD will be poured into dyke consolidation in Dien Binh commune, Dac To district; 38,000 USD to build a boarding school in Hieu commune and 27,000 USD to build a primary school in Mang Canh commune, Kon Plong district.

The FMV was established in 2003 by Christopher J. Carpenter , a former Representative in Vietnam of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, to provide grassroots assistance to the poorest villages of the country as a contribution towards the National Hunger Eradication and Poverty Alleviation Programme.

The programme consists of financing small, locally-designed projects which can be quickly implemented, with the cooperation of local authorities, and which can have an immediate impact on the poorest communities.
