PANO - An artistic exchange and a ceremony to award the winners of the sixth “Simple but noble examples” writing contest took place in Ho Chi Minh City on June 10th with the participation of many outstanding individuals throughout the country.

The organizing panel awarded 15 best articles out of hundreds of entries, including one first, two second, three third and nine consolation prizes.

Notably, the first prize went to "Two war veterans dismantled houses and donated land for the ‘Building new-styled rural areas' campaign" by journalist Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Hai from the People's Army Newspaper. This article is about the story of two veterans in Nam Nghia commune, Nam Dan district, Nghe An province, who voluntarily moved their property to another place and then cleared ground and donated hundreds of square metres in response to the campaign. Their act was considered a good example, encouraging others to do the same thing.

Addressing the event, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy Minister of National Defence, highly valued the meaningful contest in popularizing and mobilizing the entire Party and people from all walks of life to actively implement the Politburo's Directive 03 on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's moral examples.

He underlined that all the entries wrote about hundreds of outstanding examples nationwide who have silently, voluntarily and selflessly contributed to the the nation, society and community.

The general also suggested the People's Army Newspaper to continuously discover and promptly honor outstanding individuals and organizations in order to multiply more and more good examples.

At the live-show, audiences had the chance to enjoy performances in praise of the country, people and army, as well as exchanging with good examples, who were reflected on entries sent to the writing contest.
