Provinces receive computers and internet devices

PANO – Representatives from the Ministries of Information and Communications and Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Bill and Melina Gates Foundation (BMGF) on November 23rd handed over 4,600 computers and internet devices to 665 libraries and post offices in the 16 provinces of Bac Can, Cao Bang, Lang Son, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, Bac Lieu, Hau Giang, Ca Mau, Vinh Long and Dong Thap.
The devices, part of the project, “Raising computing and internet access ability in Vietnam”, sponsored by BMGF, aim to promote information and e-government services in localities, as well as help rural people have access to the internet, making contributions to raising intellectual standards of rural people.
Over the past two years, 28 provinces and cities of Vietnam have benefited from the USD 50 million project, which has been carried out from 2011 to 2016.
