PANO - The project on upgrading Phap Van-Cau Gie highway was kicked off on July 20th in Hanoi by the Ministry of Transport, Hanoi People’s Committee and investors in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai.
This route is very important to the socio-economic development and to the national defence and security of the capital city and other northern provinces. The upgraded highway would help ease traffic jam and reduce traffic accidents as well as improve road traffic system of key economic zones in the North.
The upgraded 6 lane-route of about 29 kilometers long, starting from Km 182+300, where Phap Van-Cau Gie highway and the belt road No. 3 of Hanoi intersect, to Km 211+256 is expected to be completed in mid-2018 to enable vehicles to run at 100km per hour.
This VND 6,731 billion project is under BOT form. It is expected to be transferred after nearly 20 years.
Phap Van-Cau Gie highway with 4 lanes has been exploited since 2002. To upgrade some downgraded sections of the highway, hundreds of billions of VND has been poured in yearly.
Addressing the kick-start ceremony of the project, Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai hailed the ministry, Hanoi authority and investors for mobilizing capital from society to implement this project. Hai emphasized that the model of BOT projects should be multiplied in other fields. He hoped that land clearance and compensation would be completed soon to ensure the project a success.
