In the article, Son affirmed that Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong made crucial and outstanding contribution to building and perfecting the theory and platform of the Party on the country’s socialist-oriented development, the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies in many fields from politics, socio-economy, defense, security to foreign affairs.
The contribution of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in terms of thought and theory is reflected in the Party's leadership and direction outlined in its resolutions, conclusions, and directives across fields; in his books and articles, which have been widely supported by Party members, people, and overseas Vietnamese; and highly appreciated by scientific and theoretical research communities and leaders of other countries.
These works hold profound theoretical and practical values regarding socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam; the building of a healthy and strong Party and a rule-of-law socialist State; military policies and defense strategies; the formation and development of Vietnam's comprehensive and modern foreign affairs and diplomacy imbued with the identity of "Vietnamese bamboo"; the building of the modern culture imbued with in national identity; and the reinforcement of national great solidarity.
Diplomacy is one of the sectors that bear many prominent imprints of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong. Under Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong’s leadership and direction as the Party General Secretary, the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Party Central Committee's Secretariat issued numerous resolutions, conclusions, and directives on building and perfecting the Party's and State's foreign policy during the renewal period. The Party’s resolutions, conclusions, and directives on foreign relations from the 11th National Party Congress have seen new developments in theory and practice.
In the article, the leader of Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Vietnam's diplomacy imbued with the "Vietnamese bamboo" identity, which General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong frequently mentioned in his articles and speeches on foreign affairs, is the most comprehensive and complete reflection of the core and consistent contents regarding the philosophy, identity, viewpoints, thoughts, guiding principles, basic tasks, and implementation methods of Vietnam's foreign policy and diplomacy based on the cultural identity and national characteristics of the Vietnamese people, tempered after thousands of years of national construction and protection.
Most specially, at the first-ever national conference on external affairs, the Party Chief wrote a book, titled “Building and developing Vietnam’s diplomacy comprehensively and modernly imbued with the characteristics of 'Vietnamese bamboo,' reflecting his intellectual contribution to developing the thought and theory, and perfecting the Party's foreign policy.
Under the leadership and direction of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Party Central Committee's Secretariat headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the foreign affairs of the Party and State have been implemented, bringing about many important results, holding historic significance and becoming an impressive highlight among the overall achievements and successes of the country. Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong and members of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Party Central Committee's Secretariat creatively applied the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies to directing diplomatic work, handling foreign relations, and accurately evaluating and forecasting situation.
One of the diplomatic “legacies” bearing the imprints of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong is the foreign policy of not only “keeping peace at home and with other countries” to support national development amid significant and complex global changes but also evaluating new strategic contents, higher political reliability, and more practical and effective cooperation in relations with neighboring countries, major powers, key partners, and traditional friends as well as Vietnam's new reputation and position on both bilateral and multilateral aspects. These achievements have affirmed that “Never before has our country enjoyed such a fortune, strength, international position, and prestige as today.”
During diplomatic activities, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also gave international partners and friends a good impression about Vietnam as a dynamic, rich in culture and friendly country, which upholds justice and righteousness; respects international law; and acts reasonably and compassionately; is a faithful friend, a reliable partner, and an active and responsible member of the international community. In international partners and friends’ eyes, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong was a sincere, close, and simple leader with great prestige, far-sighted vision, sharp thinking, and exemplary behavior.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong gave special sentiment and care to the diplomacy work. Apart from the national conference on foreign affairs in December 2021, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong attended and had guiding speeches at six diplomatic conferences, suggesting new guidelines and strategic direction on building the staff in charge of diplomatic work with comprehensive qualifications, mettle, morality, and professional competence.
The diplomatic sector’s staff, especially those performing task in foreign countries, felt the sentiment of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong through his encouragement, said Son. They will forever remember and thoroughly grasp the advice of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong that “A good diplomat and a skilled activist in foreign affairs must first be a good politician, always taking the interests of the nation, the people, and the political system as the guiding principle in their actions,” and “always remember that behind them are the Party, the country, and the people.”
Having the honor of accompanying Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in diplomatic activities, Minister Son evaluated that Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong demonstrated the qualities and personality of a steadfast, intellectual, and highly prestigious leader of our Party, State, and people, cherished by international friends.
He promised that the diplomatic sector will do its utmost to make more contribution to the renewal process and the Fatherland protection and defense cause.
