Earlier, on the morning on September 16th, trawler BV 9779 TS sank about 25 nautical miles off the northeast coast of Con Dao Island due to a gas tank explosion while heading ashore.
After receiving the mayday signal, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Border Guard immediately contacted nearby fishing boats to help search for the victims.
As of September 18th, MRCC III is still coordinating with other rescue forces to search for the 15 missing fishermen.
