The Ha Tinh provincial People’s Committee held a ceremony on August 11 as work began on the building of a park and monument dedicated to those who lost their lives at the Dong Loc intersection during the American war in Vietnam.
Transport Minister Dinh La Thang joined leaders of the central province at the event.
Covering an areas of 3,000 sq.m, the park will be built at a cost of 4.4 billion VND funded by the Civil Engineering Construction Corporation No. 4 (CIENCO4).
During the war, Dong Loc junction was the most important site on the North-South supply route where trucks carrying soldiers, food, arms and munitions passed through.
The historic site witnessed the death of thousands of soldiers, volunteers, traffic workers, drivers and innocent civilians.
