Vietnam has great potential to develop its economy thanks to an abundant, dynamic and hardworking labour force, said John Stuttard, the Lord Mayor of the City of London.

He made the statement at a meeting with reporters from China, Vietnam and Malaysia in London on April 13 in preparation for his upcoming visits to the three countries.

At the meeting,Mayor Stuttard said the British Business Delegation’s visit aims to strengthen trade relations between the UK and the three countries. Especially, London will establish direct relations with cities and national centres in the three countries.

After a series of successful “Going Global” events, he said he will preside over seminars under the same theme in cities such as Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen (China), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Hanoi and HCM City (Vietnam). He said these cities have the potential to becomeregional financial centres in future.

Mr Stuttard said during his upcoming visit to Vietnam, the two sides will discuss issues to develop the capital market, control the stock market, and strengthen cooperation and support Vietnam in the field of education and training.

He said Vietnam’s financial sector has developed well, especially the stock market, yet it still needs appropriate management measures.
