Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony on September 23rd to mark the 70th anniversary of the Southern Resistance War against French forces (September 23rd, 1945-2015).
In his remarks, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Le Thanh Hai recalled the heated atmosphere in Sai Gon (the former name of Ho Chi Minh City) and the southern region 70 years ago.
He stressed his appreciation for the resolve of the army and people in the Sai Gon-Cho Lon-Gia Dinh area to contain French colonialists in the inner city, giving the Party Central Committee and President Ho Chi Minh more time and more favourable conditions to prepare for the long struggle.
