According to the Prime Minister’s Decision on May 16th, the university will offer its first course in the end of this year. The Public Policy and Management course will be taught by members of the Fulbright Economics Teaching Program (FETP). The 4-year Bachelor of Education degrees include majors in social sciences, humanities, arts, and technology. The university is supported by both Vietnam and the US, with an initial investment of USD $70 million. The Vietnamese government had already offered 25 hectares of land to construct the university in Ho Chi Minh City’s hi-tech park. And the US has already funded USD $20 million.
During the ceremony, Mr. Thang said Ho Chi Minh City is the leading national centre in various fields, including education. He hopes the City will also become the number one financial, technological, and scientific centre in Southeast Asia - and that the school will graduate the best students as human resources are essential for development.
