PANO – The Vietnam Television (VTV) held a press conference in Hanoi on May 4th to announce the final round of the 15th Robocon Contest organized by Toyota Vietnam and VTV.

Under the theme “In search of clean energy”, 32 of the best teams from universities, colleges and technical schools nationwide will compete in the final round from May 9th-15th in Ninh Binh province.

The press conference

Each team will compete with two robots: one eco-robot and one hybrid-robot. The eco-robot doesn’t have an actuator to drive itself. The robots must join a three-content race, covering “three slopes and hills”, a “river”, and a “downhill section”, to reach the “wind turbine station.” The team whose robots assemble the “wind turbine propeller” the fastest will win the game.

In 2015, contest organizers limited the number of teams to six for each school. The change was made in order to select better competitors. This year the contest sets higher requirements for the level of automatic control techniques.

The winner of the final round will compete in the Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon), scheduled to take place in Thailand this August.
