Ngoc said the center’s staff should master technology. Besides, it is necessary for the center to step up international cooperation in order to detect new marine natural resources, thus serving the country’s socio-economic development, and national defense.
The center, under the Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands (VASI), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, was presented with the Labor Order, first class, on this occasion.
Outcomes of natural resources and environment surveys conducted by the center has helped the VASI establish scientific foundations, contributing to building strategies, programs and plans on sustainable maritime economic development, as well as consolidating national defense and security at sea.
Thanks to the center’s efforts, nearly a quarter of Vietnam’s seas and islands has been surveyed. New findings of marine natural resources, especially solid minerals on Vietnam’s continental shelf as well as potential deep-water minerals have been released by the center.
Over the past 25 years, the center has surpassed a range of challenges to affirm its role in basis marine natural resources and environment survey.
