The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) hosted a workshop on March 5 in Binh Dinh on building green growth strategies and action plans for the central provinces of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa.
The event drew leaders of the three central provinces and representatives from the Government Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Experts from MPI presented plans and approaches in building green growth action plans for the localities, and reported initial results of the process in several provinces and cities nationwide.

MPI Deputy Minister Nguyen The Phuong said the ministry has worked with donors such as the United Nations Development Programme and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to build instructions related to public investment for green growth and climate change adaptation.
Many localities, ministries and sectors have built green growth action plans in connection with economic restructuring, thanks to the great support provided by the international community and development partners in the field, he noted.
According to the official, local authorities of the central provinces of Ha Tinh, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan cooperated with the MPI’s Department of Science, Education , Natural Resources and Environment to outline provincial-level action plans.
Vietnam’s green growth strategy is being deployed from 2014-2020, which is a process that aims to perfect the structure of economic institutions by using natural resources efficiently, improving the competitiveness of the economy, adapting to climate change, reducing poverty and ensuring sustainable economic development.
