PANO – To ease the losses of lives and property, army units have mobilised thousands of troops and militiamen, vehicles of different kinds, and equipment to evacuate people in Quang Ninh province’s flood stricken areas and their property to safer places, and search for and rescue the distressed.

On July 30th and 31st, naval troops using Ship HQ 634 of the Navy’s Brigade 170 took safely ashore more than 1,000 tourists who had been stuck on Co To Island due to high waves and strong winds. During the evacuation, medical personnel on the ship provided health check-ups to the tourists.

The Search and Rescue Department instructed other units to work with localities to keep an eye on downgraded hydropower dams and prepare forces and vehicles to cope with problems in a timely manner.

Meanwhile, Military Zone 2’s units worked with local forces to evacuate locals in Son La province’s Quynh Nhai district and Dien Bien province’s Nap Po district, which were hit by landslides, to safer sites. The units’ troops have been on standby in the areas to help locals avoid losses from heavy rains and landslides.
