14th NA’s ninth session: fund for disaster prevention necessary
The 14th National Assembly discussed the draft Law on amendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Dykes Law during an online ninth session in Hanoi on May 28.
Presenting a report on collecting feedback on the draft Law, Chairman of the NA’s Committee on Science, Technology, and Environment Phan Xuan Dung said a majority of deputies agree with the need to establish a fund for disaster prevention and control amid the complicated developments of climate change at present.
Deputy Tran Dinh Gia from Ha Tinh suggested militia forces and mass organizations in localities should perform the task of disaster prevention and control in their localities.
Several lawmakers said the establishment of the fund is necessary to receive and effectively use international assistance.
Deputy Hoang Duc Thang from Quang Tri proposed adding contents related to dykes to prevent coastal landslides in the draft Dykes Law.
