Cloudy mist at a Mau Son tourist site at dawn. The Mau Son has its unique beauty in each season. The cloud hunting season on the Mau Son is from August to March. To hunt clouds, tourists should wake up early at dawn. The cloud-hunting season is familiar to local people but strange and brings many emotions to tourists, especially those who first visit there.
Cloud covers mountains and forests at the Mau Son tourist site in Loc Binh district. The Mau Son mountain range stretches from Mau Son commune in Loc Binh district to Cong Son and Mau Son communes in Cao Loc district. The Mau Son mountain range consists of nearly 80 mountains and hills of different sizes with Cong Son and Phia Po being the highest mountains (1,541m). The Mau Son is some 30km from Lang Son city and some 180km from Hanoi.
Visiting the Mau Son in April and May, tourists will see locals transplant rice on terraced fields, on hills or in forests. In early summer, locals also cultivate corn.
A nearly 7m tall waterfall in Mau Son. On the northern and southern slopes of Mau Son are more than ten large streams with clear water all year round and numerous beautiful rapids. Apart from camping in forests, bathing in springs, and enjoying fresh air, tourists can observe hydragea, a common flower species on the Mau Son in summer.
