Anti-aircraft artillery troops uphold tradition
PANO – On April 1, 1953, General Vo Nguyen Giap, Defense Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People’s Army signed Decision No.06/QD to establish Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment 367 – the first kind of regiment in the VPA.
Since then, in the resistance war against the Americans alone, anti-aircraft artillery soldiers shot down nearly 3,100 U.S. aircraft, accounting for 75% of the total number of enemy aircraft lost in the country, contributing to the victory of the national salvation cause.
For these glorious achievements, dozens of anti-aircraft artillery collectives and individuals were presented with the title Hero of the People’s Armed Forces.
In peacetime, anti-aircraft artillery units together with other forces have set up a multi-layer defense system to firmly defend the skies of the country.
On the occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of anti-aircraft artillery troops, the People’s Army Newspaper Online would like to introduce several photos of the soldiers.
