PANO – The first search and rescue exercise, coordinated by the navies of Vietnamese People’s Army and Chinese People’s Liberation Army was recently conducted successfully.

The exercise took place on May 9th in the waters of the Bac Bo (Tonkin) Gulf within the framework of the 9th Combine Patrol of the two navies.

The Vietnamese and Chinese navies signed the Memorandum of Understanding on conducting combined patrols in the water of the Bac Bo Gulf on October 26th, 2005.

The VPA Naval vessels of HQ 261 and HQ 263 participated in the patrol with two PLA Naval vessels.

The combined patrols and exercise are to strengthen the mutual trust and understanding between the two navies.
