More Vietnamese citizens in Singapore flown home
PANO - Two flights arranged on October 12 by Vietnamese authorities and the Embassy of Vietnam in Singapore brought home nearly 360 Vietnamese citizens stranded in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Most of the passengers were children under 18, elderly people, people with serious health conditions and others in difficult circumstances.
The Vietnamese Embassy sent its staff to the airport to assist them with boarding procedures.
Disease prevention measures were carried out during the flights to avoid any possible infections of the COVID-19.
After landing at Can Tho International Airport in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, all crew-members and passengers on the two flights were put under quarantine in line with the health regulations.
In the near future, similar flights will be conducted to repatriate Vietnamese citizens in disadvantaged situations. Still, the number of such flights depends on the need of Vietnamese nationals in other countries and Vietnam’s quarantine capacity.
