As many as 29 Vietnamese citizens hit by typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines will be flown back to Ho Chi Minh City on December 13-14, according to Vietnamese Embassy in Manila.
A total of 31 Vietnamese have been affected by the super typhoon. The first person left for Vietnam on December 9 and the remaining one will return later.
Right after the typhoon made landfall, the Embassy exerted every effort to bring them to the capital city of Manila and help them deal with legal procedures for repatriating to Vietnam.
On December 12, the Embassy in conjunction with the Vietnamese Community in Manila held a meeting for the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to provide assistance worth 1,000 USD each to help them settle their life in Vietnam.
Super typhoon Haiyan, which swept through the Philippines in early November, was considered the most devastating storm in the world.
