On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the “Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the air” victory (1972-2022), the People’s Army Newspaper recorded several comments on the historical event.

The glorious victory of Vietnamese troops and people in the sky of Hanoi in December 1972 defeated the large-scale strategic air raids of the U.S., forcing the U.S. government to declare the cease of bombardment over the North of Vietnam, sign the Paris Peace Accords, ending the war, and restoring peace in Vietnam. It was considered one of the great victories in the 20th century. Troops of the Air Defense - Air Force Service, together with people in the North, wrote an epic about the will and strength of the Vietnamese people in the Ho Chi Minh era. It also proved the high sense of spirit and determination of troops and people in the struggle for national independence and freedom.

Upholding the values of the “Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the air” victory, troops of the Air Defense - Air Force Service have heightened their determination and responsibility to complete all assignments and maintained a firm political stance and absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland and the people in all circumstances.
In the current context, air force units and Brigade 918 are equipped with modern aircraft and technical equipment. In order to master new generation aircraft, pilots and crew-members have trained hard to improve their professional and foreign language skills, raise flying techniques and acquire more experience in science - technology, to name but a few.

As a core force in managing and protecting national sovereignty and border security over the past time, border guard officers and soldiers have received numerous tasks with higher requirements. Although border troops have confronted many difficulties and dangers, they have bravely overcome all challenges to fulfill assigned missions.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the “Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the air” victory, officers and soldiers recalled the glorious traditions of the Party, the country and the military, arousing troops’ pride, revolutionary spirit, and determination to firmly safeguard national sovereignty over sea and islands, as well as encouraging them to actively participate in activities to build and consolidate local political system and to boost socio-economic and cultural development in border areas.
This was an occasion for leaders of Lach Ken Border Station to promote political and ideological education among its troops to enhance their strong political will, especially in fighting against wrongful and hostile views and protecting the Party’s ideological foundation.

Over the past time, youths of Naval Region 5 have promoted their vanguard role and creativeness to complete assigned missions, maintain combat readiness posture and master new and modern weapons and technical equipment, contributing to firmly safeguarding national sovereignty over sea and islands.
Meanwhile, the youths have proactively studied to quickly approach and master weapons and technical equipment, especially new and modern equipment, as well as train hard to get high results in competitions and sports festivals.

Enjoying precious documentary footages of the “Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the air” victory, Quan and his comrades were proud of the heroic traditions of the Vietnam People’s Army and were touched by the great sacrifice of officers and soldiers in the air defense campaign.
Inheriting and promoting the traditions of Battalion 2 and the great feats-of-arms of the “Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the air” victory, Private Quan promised to continue training hard to improve his capability and revolutionary morality to undertake his assignments. He will strictly observe military discipline and the unit’s regulations, surmount all difficulties and stand ready to receive any tasks, contributing to embellishing glorious traditions and beautifying the virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers.
