* On January 28, Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and Deputy Defense Minister, presented gifts to 30 poor families in Linh Son commune, Thai Nguyen city.

At the event, General Giang hailed the locality’s achievements in developing socio-economy and maintaining social order over the past time.

On this occasion, Lieutenant General Tran Hong Minh, Commander of Military Region 1 presented gifts to 20 poor households in the commune.

In addition, General Giang led the mission to visit Military Region 1’s affiliated units and Thai Nguyen municipal Party Committee and offered incense at a martyrs’ cemetery in Tan Thinh ward, Thai Nguyen city.

* The same day, Lieutenant General Le Hien Van, Deputy Director of the VPA’s General Department of Politics extended Tet greetings to the Thuan Thanh Convalescence Center in Bac Ninh province, Thai Nguyen provincial Military Command, and Brigade 229 of Engineering Arm.

At the center, General Van applauded the efforts of the medical staff at the center, who have wholeheartedly cared for the wounded and sick soldiers.

He inquired after and offered gifts to war wounded and sick soldiers and asked them to continue promoting the tradition of Uncle Ho’s soldiers.

During his visits to units, General Van asked them to further embrace higher levels' directions on military-defense affairs, enhance combat readiness quality, and organize a cozy, safe and economical Tet for troops on duty during the Tet.

* In the afternoon of January 28, Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Director of the VPA’s General Department of Politics paid a pre-Tet visit to the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin.

After reporting the outcomes of gratitude activities by the whole army units, General Can expressed his hope that the association would make more efforts to take care of Agent Orange/dioxin victims and request justice for AO/Dioxin victims.

Major General Pham Van Huan, Editor-in-Chief of the People’s Army Newspaper hands over gifts to Brigade 139

* Major General Pham Van Huan, Editor-in-Chief of the People’s Army Newspaper led a delegation to extend Tet wishes and offer gifts to troops in Brigades 134 and 139 of Signal Arm.

* The Quang Nam provincial Border Guard Command associated with the province’s Women Union to present 260 gifts and 12 cows to local national contributors and an outdoor playground to a kindergarten in La Ee commune, Nam Giang district.

On this occasion, the command’s doctors provided free health checkups and medicines to nearly 200 residents while youths of the La Ee Border Post and La Ee commune wrapped over 700 Chung cakes to help the locals welcome a happy Tet.

* Previously on January 27, the Naval Region 2 Command and the Ba Ria-Vung Tau provincial Military Command handed over Tet gifts of the provincial People’s Committee to 379 relatives of troops who are on duty on DK1 Platforms and in the Southern continental shelf.
