The visit was made on the occasion of the Vietnam high-ranking delegation’s trip to Laos to attend the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962 - 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977-2022).

During the event, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien thanked the host for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings from Vietnamese Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang to Lao Deputy PM and Defense Minister General Chansamone Chanyalath. He stressed that Vietnam always attaches much importance to enhancing the relationship with Laos, and hoped the two militaries will stand side by side to overcome challenges and difficulties to firmly protect the revolutionary outcomes which have been assiduously cultivated by generations of people of the two countries.
Informing outcomes of the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022 to the host, the guest stressed that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense held numerous activities in various forms, including high-ranking delegation exchange, training and exercises in response to non-traditional security threats, border defense friendship exchange, exhibitions, annual meetings for the defense ministers of the three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
The Vietnamese deputy defense minister hoped that Minister Chansamone Chanyalath and other Lao defense leaders will continue directing relevant agencies to collaborate to effectively implement cooperation contents, contributing to deepening the bilateral ties between the two countries and the two militaries and developing the defense relations to be one among important pillars of the two nations’ relationship.
For his part, General Chansamone Chanyalath expressed his delight at welcoming the Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister on the occasion that the two parties, two states, and two militaries are holding numerous meaningful events to mark the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022. He affirmed that the visit will contribute to reinforcing and strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, two states, two militaries and two peoples.
He spoke highly of the cooperation outcomes between the two defense ministries over the past time, especially in delegation exchange, Party and political work, training program, and collaboration in border management and protection.
The host expressed his hope that the functional agencies of the two sides will continue to coordinate to well implement contents of the cooperation program in 2022 and discuss to agree on upcoming programs, contributing to improving bilateral defense ties in a more effective and practical manner.
