The request was made by Politburo member, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, during his visit to the MR5 Command on January 22.

The PM also asked MR5 to work with other forces to closely follow developments of the situation in the localities, give good advice to help the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense deal with any circumstances on time, while effectively organizing training courses, and well mastering staffed equipment and weapons. Furthermore, MR5 should continue strengthening the military-civilian unity, effectively carrying out defense external relations affairs, fostering the relationship between Vietnamese and Lao and between Vietnamese and Cambodian residents along the shared border areas, making contributions to building the border of peace.

Phuc added that MR5 should make good preparations to ensure a happy Tet for the troops as well as strictly maintain combat readiness during the holidays.

During the visit, the Prime Minister also congratulated MR5 on its last year’s achievements in helping locals overcome the consequences of natural disasters, taking good care of needy people, troops, and their families, and implementing defense external affairs.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc presented Tet gifts and wished troops of MR5 good health, happiness, and a successful new year.
