Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, permanent member of the Central Military Commission (CMC), Director of the General Department of Politics, directed the meeting.
At the meeting, the Committee announced the decisions of the Standing Board of the CMC on strengthening the Committee, embraced the CMC’s resolution on leadership over military and defense mission and over building the military Party Organization in 2018 and worked out the leadership resolution in 2018 with a close attachment to the Committee’s self-criticism and criticism.
The meeting agreed that in 2017, the Committee embraced resolutions from higher levels and their directives, followed closely real situations, conducted well its advisory task to help build a politically-strong army and enhance the Party’s leadership over the army.
It also directed the whole army to complete the set plans on Party and political work with practical outcomes.
Besides, positive changes in all aspects were seen in the Organs of the General Department of Politics while troops had their thoughts oriented and were provided with political education and encouraged to fight against wrong viewpoints. Moreover, the combat strength and leadership competence, quality of Party organization and cadres and Party members improved much.
In 2018, the Committee will continue to implement seriously the Party’s resolutions and directives and the CMC’s resolutions on leadership over military-defense mission, Party and political work and building Party Organization of the military.
It will also focus on directing good task performance, improving advisory quality, upholding firmly the Party’s ideological foundation in the army and building comprehensively strong Organs of the General Department of Politics and a politically-, ideologically-, organizationally- and morally-strong Party Committee.
In his speech, Gen. Cuong highly valued the Committee’s leadership achievements, acknowledged the good performance of the principle of democratic centralism, the high spirit of self-criticism and criticism, innovation in leadership and transparent commendation and reward as well as maintained internal solidarity.
Gen. Cuong also tasked the Committee to grasp thoroughly any situational developments, well perform their strategic advisory task in building a politically-strong army, continue making breakthroughs, and build a politically-, ideologically-, organizationally- and morally strong committee as well as pay much attention to the quality of resolution-making and resolution implementation of all-level party committees.
