Addressing the opening ceremony, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh said that conducting a provincial-level defensive area exercise is one of the province’s major political tasks this year. It is important to improve commanding capability of Party cells’ leadership and management and operational efficiency of local authorities as well as the role of the local military, police forces, and provincial agencies and organizations, including socio-political ones in advising the provincial leadership on directing the local armed forces and people to fulfill the province defense-security mission and deal with urgent military contingencies in the province.

The exercise aims to check the coordination of involved forces in handling defense-security emergency issues in the locality and assess results of military training and actual task performances in the field of the provincial armed forces.

This year’s exercise also focuses on checking participating forces’ abilities and coordination in receiving and handling information in emergency situations.

To ensure the success of the exercise, Thanh asked the relevant forces to grasp thoroughly the Party’s viewpoint and policy on defense-security in the current period, apply theories on defensive operations to dealing with situations while ensuring safety of personnel and equipment.
