* On April 2, a delegation from the People’s Army Newspaper (PAN) and the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank)’s Lai Chau branch held a program to hand over healthcare resources to the Lai Chau provincial Border Guard Command.

This was a prompt activity launched by the newspaper to support COVID-19 control and prevention work.

At the event, the delegation offered medical supplies and necessities, worth nearly VND 250 million, to target unit. Accordingly, the PAN presented 2,500 medical masks, 60 sets of personal protective equipment, 40 liters of antiseptic water and 250 bottles of antiseptic gel.

Meanwhile, Agribank donated 1,000 medical masks, 1,000 disposable gloves, 300 sets of personal protective equipment and 140 bottles of hand sanitizer.

Reportedly, the Lai Chau provincial Border Guard Command has closely worked with public security forces, economic-defense missions and militia forces to establish 57 teams to patrol and prevent the disease from spreading into Vietnam. The teams must patrol 265 kilometers of the Vietnam-China shared borderline.

Via the program, the PAN would like to receive more care and support from agencies, organizations, enterprises and individuals inside and outside the country to fight against COVID-19.

* On the same day, a delegation from the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command visited and presented gifts to troops on duty in border areas.

Currently, 66 teams stationed in border areas are tasked with COVID-19 prevention and control work.

Having been briefed on the task performance in COVID-19 prevention and control work, the delegation hailed troops’ efforts and their cooperation with other forces to better patrol the designated areas and control the disease, highlighting that they should embrace directions and instructions of higher levels to effectively combat Covid-19 COVID-19 epidemic.
