Draft book on repatriation of fallen soldiers’ remains in Laos approved
PANO - The Compilation Council of the Ministry of National Defense on December 7 held a meeting to pass a draft of the book entitled “Leadership over and coordination on searching, gathering and repatriating remains of Vietnamese volunteer troops and specialists who sacrificed their lives while doing international service in Laos, in the 1994-2016 period."

The 320-page book features the instructions of the Party, Government and Ministry of National Defense of the two nations on cooperation to carry out the work in the 1994-2016 period, especially the performance of two special working groups of the two Governments and localities. It also depicts the wholehearted support of the Lao party committees, authorities, localities, armed forces and people for the search and repatriation of the remains of fallen Vietnamese soldiers. The outcomes of the service as well as lessons learnt are also included in the book.
Addressing the meeting, Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, Permanent Deputy Director of the Special Working Committee of the Government and Head of the Compilation Council, lauded the high responsibility, pro-activeness, enthusiasm and all-out efforts of the Council and involved people.
General Can emphasized that the Council would further study, edit and come to agreements on the book’s content and lay-out as well as complete the book. It would also team up with relevant organs to translate the book into Lao language to ask for constructive voices from the Special Working Committee of the Lao Government and complete all necessary procedures to publish the book.
