Furthermore, it also shows the VPN’s responsibility as a member of the ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting (ANCM).
Especially, the participation is to show the Vietnamese Defense Ministry’s and VPN’s goodwill in promoting bilateral relations with the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN), supporting international events hosted by the RSN, and strengthening relations with the ASEAN and regional navies.

This also offers opportunities for the VPN’s sailors and officers to conduct patrols in the Southern waters of Vietnam, promote the crewmembers’ mastery of assigned weapons and equipment during long voyages at sea, and share experience and improve their interoperability with other naval forces.
According to Naval Captain Ngan, the visit will contribute to heightening the image of the VPN in particular and the Vietnam People’s Army in general to partners and help the VPN learn more experience in hosting international naval events in 2020 when Vietnam takes over the Chair of ASEAN.
