In return, Senior Colonel Le Xuan Thuy, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People’s Navy and Head of the mission, thanked the host for the warm reception and said that it is the second time a Vietnamese warship has visited Singapore.
The Vietnamese mission will visit the Vietnamese Embassy to Singapore and leaders of the Singaporean Navy, and has friendly sports games with Singaporean naval soldiers.
Over the past time, Vietnam and Singapore have witnessed developments in defence cooperation, especially their agreement on bilateral defence cooperation signed in 2009.
In 2010, leaders of the two Navies inked an agreement on the establishment of a joint working group. To date, they have held five annual working sessions. Besides, through this mechanism, they signed some important cooperation documents in fields of mutual concern.
