PANO – The policy to build the Vietnam – Laos border into a stable area for comprehensive development has reached significant achievements, contributing to consolidating and developing the special friendship between the two countries.

Nguyen Van Binh, member of the Politburo, Head of the Central Economic Commission, and Head of the Northwest Steering Committee made the remark at a reception of a delegation of the Lao Central Committee for Rural Development and Poverty Eradication, led by its Deputy Permanent Chairman Thoongvan Vilayhueng at the Central Commission for External Affairs’ Office in Hanoi on November 14.

Binh also recommended some contents of cooperation for the time to come. Accordingly, the two sides continue to well implement the Vietnam - Laos High-level Agreement for 2017 on strengthening the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries; and effectively deploy the Cooperation Plan to build the Vietnam – Laos border into a stable region for comprehensive development. Moreover, the two sides should increasingly share experiences in hunger eradication and poverty reduction and in building new rural development models to gradually improve people’s living standards.

Vilayhueng said that the Lao Party and State highly appreciated the bilateral cooperation on developing areas along the border between the two countries recently and suggested that the two sides closely work with each other to overcome shortcomings to successfully achieve the set targets.
