At the reception, the Vietnamese general held that Vietnam-US relations over the past time have seen active development with the establishment of the comprehensive partnership. However, General Vinh affirmed that the cooperation in defence industry has not matched the two countries’ potential. He said that Vietnam wants the US to provide modern technologies in accordance with Vietnam’s reality to produce amphibious products, considering it a firm step to boost bilateral defence cooperation.
Sharing General Vinh’s viewpoint, Mr. Michael Walter Michalak said that in the coming time, the US will send a business delegation to Vietnam to explore possibilities for cooperation with Vietnamese defence businesses contributing to raising the effectiveness of cooperation in the defence industry sector of the two countries.
General Vinh also expressed delight at the coming visit to Vietnam of President Barack Obama in May, wishing it a success which will contribute to lifting the Vietnam-US relations to a new height.
* The same day, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh received outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam Ng Teck Hean.
