PANO - Military Hospital 175 under the Ministry of National Defense on October 27 welcomed a visiting delegation of the US Pacific Command, led by its Commander, Admiral Harry B. Harris Jr.

The US delegation was briefed on the hospital’s tasks, functions and operation.

Overview of the meeting

The US Admiral said that Vietnam and the US are developing their comprehensive partnership, especially in medical cooperation and humanitarian aid, and that Vietnam is one of a few countries that the US is cooperating with in military medicine.

The US Admiral expressed his pleasure at Vietnam’s participation in UN peacekeeping operations and hoped that the US would continue its cooperation with the hospital in the time to come, especially in the deployment of the level-2 field hospital.

The hospital’s leaders lauded the positive results of the two countries’ cooperation in medicine and the coordination between the hospital and US delegations of doctors and nurses in offering free eye checkups and surgeries as well as sharing experiences in treatment.

The host hoped that the US would share more experiences and support training of personnel for the level-2 field hospital, so that it could be ready for future UN peacekeeping missions.

The hosts also wished to see more exchanges with US hospitals and cooperation in medical research and military medicine, in the future.
