Congratulating the ambassador on the successful completion of his diplomatic mission in Vietnam, General Phan Van Giang noted that bilateral relations have continued to advance across multiple areas. Political and diplomatic ties have been reinforced through regular high-level visits and exchanges, while cooperation in trade, investment, and economic development has delivered significant results. Bilateral defense cooperation has also achieved substantial progress.

The minister highlighted key achievements in defense cooperation, including delegation exchanges, the effective operation of bilateral consultation mechanisms, cooperation among arms and services, defense education and training, and mutual support at multilateral events hosted by either country.
Looking ahead, General Phan Van Giang called on both sides to actively implement existing cooperation agreements, with priority given to expanding exchanges at all levels, particularly senior-level visits, and maintaining bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including the Deputy Minister-level Defense Policy Dialogue.
Through Ambassador Dato' Tan Yang Thai, General Phan Van Giang extended an invitation to the leadership of Malaysia's Ministry of Defense and the Malaysian Armed Forces to attend the third Vietnam Defense Expo this December. He also invited Malaysian defense companies to exhibit their products at the event.
He expressed confidence that Dato' Tan Yang Thai would continue to excel in any position entrusted to him while remaining a strong supporter of the enduring friendship between Vietnam and Malaysia.
For his part, Ambassador Dato' Tan Yang Thai thanked the leadership of Vietnam's MND and agencies and units of the Vietnam People's Army for their support and cooperation throughout his tenure. He expressed hope that Vietnam - Malaysia relations, especially defense cooperation, would continue to grow, contributing to regional stability and prosperity.
