MND aids Laos USD 50,000 following dam collapse
PANO - Senior Lieutenant General Tran Don, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Defense Minister on August 3 presented USD 50,000 of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense (MND) to help the Lao Government and people overcome the aftermath of the collapse of the Sepien-Senamnoi hydropower dam in Attapeu province.

Addressing the event organized at the Embassy of Lao People's Democratic Republic in Hanoi,Gen. Don stressed that the Vietnamese Party, Government, people and the army are deeply sympathetic with the Lao Party, Government and the people, especially local residents in Attapeu province after the disaster.
He also said that military units under the Vietnam People's Army are actively deploying troops and vehicles to support Lao people in the search and rescue of victims and in overcoming the difficulties.
On behalf of the Lao Party, Government and people, Mr. Viengsay Dalasan, Deputy Ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam expressed deep thanks to the support of Vietnam and pledged to transfer the aid to the Lao victims as soon as possible, so that they could stabilize their lives.
