French naval frigate visits Da Nang city
PANO – The French Navy’s frigate Prairial, led by Commander Wallerand Faivre D’Arcier, together with 93 officers, petty officers, and sailors, arrived at Tien Sa Port on November 14, to begin its goodwill visit to Da Nang city from November 14 to 19.
The welcome ceremony for the French Navy’s frigate at Tien Sa Port was chaired by leaders of the Da Nang Municipal Department of Foreign Affairs. The event saw the participation of representatives from the Department of Foreign Relations (under the Ministry of National Defense), Military Region 5, Naval Region 3, Coast Guard Region 2, and the Da Nang Municipal Military Command (under the Military Region 5 Command). The French side was represented by officials from the French Embassy in Vietnam and the Consulate General of France in Ho Chi Minh City.

During their stay in Da Nang, the commanding staff of Prairial will pay courtesy calls on leaders of the Da Nang Municipal People’s Committee, Military Region 5, and Naval Region 3.
French officers and sailors will take part in professional exchanges and sports activities with their counterparts from the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Vietnam Coast Guard. A series of visits to local cultural and historical sites will also be arranged for French visitors to enhance mutual understanding.

This visit will contribute to strengthening naval cooperation, maintaining dialogue, and promoting coordination at sea between the two sides. Direct exchanges between officers and sailors of both sides help reinforce mutual trust, contributing to building a peaceful, stable, secure, and safe maritime environment in the region. The visit also offers an opportunity to promote Da Nang’s image to international friends and foster broader cooperation across various fields.
