The deputy defense minister made the working visit while accompanying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend a summit commemorating the 45th anniversary of the ASEAN – E.U. relations and pay official visits to Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Belgium from December 9 to 16.
On behalf of Damen, Mr. Pim Schurmman, Regional Director for Asia Pacific, expressed his pleasure to welcome Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien and the delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to visit the group.
According to Mr. Pim Schurmman, Damen is one of the world’s leading prestigious shipbuilding groups with 35 workshops and shipbuilding companies worldwide. It has a good cooperative relationship with 110 trade partners and navies of countries. Over the past years, the group has built, repaired, and maintained hundreds of ships of different kinds according to the orders of global partners, including those from Vietnam. With more than 20 years of experience, the group evaluated that Vietnam's staff, experts, and technical workers are qualified and capable of receiving technology transfer and successfully building and repairing ships according to customers’ need.
Damen’s leader said that in the coming time, the business wishes to continue to build and maintain cooperative relations with partners of the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien highly appreciated Damen's capacity and experience and acknowledged its effective cooperation with Vietnamese partners in general and defense industry agencies in particular. Through cooperation, Vietnam's defense industry agencies have shared their experience in management models and modern technologies and equipment. In addition, the collaboration has helped Vietnamese defense industry agencies to enhance their personnel’s capability to meet advanced standards.
The Vietnamese deputy official suggested Damen continue to promote its position and experience and work together with Vietnamese partners in general and Vietnamese defense industry agencies in particular to look for suitable mechanisms and resources to carry out new shipbuilding projects; strengthen cooperation in equipment and technology transfer; foster ties in training and experience sharing.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense welcomes and will create favorable conditions for Damen to cooperate with Vietnam's defense industry agencies in accordance with Vietnam’s laws and needs.
During the working program, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien and the delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense visited the group's military ship building and maintenance facility at Schiedam, Rotterdam City.
