Defense Ministry extends Bunpimay greetings to Lao Embassy in Vietnam
PANO – A defense delegation, headed by Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission and Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, on April 7, visited the Lao Embassy in Vietnam on the occasion of the Lao traditional New Year festival Bunpimay.
On behalf of the leadership of the National Defense Ministry and General Department of Politics, General Nghia congratulated the Lao Party, State and people as well as the Lao Embassy’s staff on their traditional New Year festival. He believed that Laos under the sound leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party will continue obtaining additional great achievements in its renewal, country construction and national defense as well as will successfully realize the Resolution of the 10th National Congress of the Lao Party.

Regarding bilateral defense cooperation, General Nghia said that relevant agencies of the two sides under the instructions of the two Ministries of National Defense have well implemented and attained achievements in such cooperation areas as Party and political work; exchange of delegation at all levels; personnel training; search, collection and repatriation of remains of fallen Vietnamese volunteer troops and experts; and mutual assistance activities.
General Nghia also affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense will spare no efforts to boost friendship and cooperation with the Lao Ministry of National Defense, contributing to cementing the Vietnam-Laos special ties and ensuring national independence of each country.
Lao Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam Thoongsavanh Phomvihane thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, General Department of Politics and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, and affirmed that the Lao Embassy in Vietnam will try its best to well perform its function as an important bridge connecting the two Parties, States, armies and peoples of Vietnam and Laos.
