The event drew the participation of defense ministers, or representatives, of ASEAN Defense Ministries and ASEAN Secretary-General Lim Jock Hoi. Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien attended the event.

Brunei’s Second Minister of Defense Pehin Datu Lailaraja Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof stated at the event that Brunei’s success in hosting the ADMM and related meetings in 2021 was thanks to the support of ASEAN member states and dialogue partners.

Emphasizing Brunei’s commitment to backing the ADMM cooperation, he wished Cambodia to be successful in its chairmanship next year and believed that ASEAN cooperation will be further promoted.

For his part, Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Tea Banh highly appreciated Brunei’s chairmanship in 2021, which has gained many significant results and brought practical benefits to the region in a challenging year.

He also noted that the Cambodian Defense Ministry, as the Chair of the ADMM and related meetings in 2022, will foster the ADMM’s significant efforts to contribute to ensuring security and boosting post-COVID-19 recovery in the region via close-knit solidarity among ASEAN member states.

Cambodia is looking forward to receiving the active support and cooperation of ASEAN member countries during its chairmanship, General Tea Banh concluded.
