Vietnam hopes to enhance partnership with Cuba in water resources management, meteorology, climate change adaption, ecological protection and oceanography, said Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Pham Minh Quang.

He suggested the two sides establish a memorandum of understanding or framework in environmental protection cooperation, which facilitates delegation exchange and information sharing in the field during his working session with Cuban Minister of Science, Technology and Environment Elba Rosa Perez Montoya in Havana this week.

For her part, the Cuban minister proposed the two countries share practices in environmental management alongside analysis and forecasts of climate change, including sea level rise, stressing that they have huge potential to expand cooperation.

During the visit to Cuba from July 5-10, Minister Quang and his entourage also attended the 10th International Conference on Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development, which brought together around 1,000 delegates from across the globe.

Minister Quang chaired a number of plenary sessions of the conference and gave a presentation on environmental protection in the agricultural sector.
