A delegation led by president of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) has attended the Asia Business Summit being held in Tokyo, Japan.
Also present are representatives from 13 organisations from 11 Asian economies, inlcuding China, India, Indonesia, Singapore and Taiwan.
At the opening ceremony on March 15, president of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), Fujio Mitarai, said that in the past, the US and the Europe led the world economy. However, in the first half of the 21st century, the dynamic in Asia will strongly change the current global economy.
Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada affirmed that Japan will accelerate negations of trade partnership agreements with the Republic of Korea, China and Australia.
During the summit, they will discuss measures to strengthen regional economic integration through investment and trade liberalization. They will also focus on promoting co-operation in infrastructure development and regional private economic sectors as well as fostering economic relations between Japan and its neighbouring countries. Also on the agenda are other issues, such as climate change, energy development and intellectual property right.
Participants will call on governments to support building infrastructure, such as road and railway systems and submit their opinions to Japan Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama and to international conferences, such as the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation Meeting to be held in Japan this year.
At the end of the summit, participants will adopt a common declaration, which will point out specific proposals to strengthen regional economic integration.
