PANO – Naval forces participating in the Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo 2014 have carried out a search and rescue exercise in the East Sea.

Vietnam’s Hospital Ship HQ-561 was among a group of ships from Indonesia, Japan, Russia, the Philippines and Australia.

The group, led by an Indonesian flagship, in line-up formation started heading for the Indonesian island of Natuna on March 31st.

On the way to their gathering point, they successfully conducted some mock-up situations, such as fighting a sudden fire on a ship, transporting injured people from a ship to another by helicopter, and rescuing distressed sailors.

On April 1st, the HQ-561 performed a mock-up of treating a person getting an electric shock from the Japanese ship.

On the same day’s afternoon, they docked at Natuna to prepare for the Komodo’s final period of civil assistance.
