A get-together marking the 4,345th anniversary of the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s National Foundation Day was held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 5.

The event was co-organised by the Municipal Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam-RoK Friendship Association. 

Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Oh Jae Hack, hailed the importance of the event, noting Vietnam and RoK are hosting a series of activities to recognise the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2012.  

The bilateral relationship has been developing strongly, especially since the two the establishment of a strategic partnership in 2009, Hack said. 

Vietnam is one of a number of prioritised countries receiving development aid from the RoK.  

With nearly 3,000 different projects, the RoK became Vietnam’s biggest foreign investor in June 2012. 

The two countries aim to raise two-way trade turnover to US$20 billion by 2015 and US$30 billion by 2020.
