A competition challenging participants’ knowledge on Vietnam-Cuban relations was launched on August 20 on the occasion of 55 years of the two countries’ diplomatic ties.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung (back, left) and President Raul Castro Ruz witnessed the signing of a mid-term bilateral economic agenda in Havana in March 2014.

Vietnamese nationals living in the country or abroad can take part in the event by submitting their essays on the growing friendship to the email address thitimhieucuba@gmail.com or physically at the Voice of Vietnam (VOV)’s premises – No 58, Quan Su Street, Hanoi.

Registration will be open from August 24 through November 15.

There will be one first prize of 30 million VND (1,345 USD), two second prizes each worth 15 million VND (675 USD) and two third prizes of ten million VND (448 USD) each.

The organisation board will also release twelve multiple choice tests over twelve weeks with cash prizes of up to 1 million VND (45 USD). Contestants can text their answers to 7395.

At the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association (VCFA) Nguyen Duy Cuong highlighted the close traditional ties between the two countries and peoples while Ariadne Feo Labrada from the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam said the quiz would advance mutual understanding among the younger generations of the two nations.

The VCFA and the VOV are co-organising the event.
