Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Chief of the Vietnamese mission to the United Nations: Mission of maintaining peace, reinforcing international law, promoting sustainable development and human rights
Since becoming a member of the United Nations, Vietnam has made considerable contributions to disarmament and prevention of proliferation of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. When holding the post of a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, Vietnam actively participated in preventing crises and peacekeeping operations, making important proposals on the protection of women and children in conflicts, promoting human rights and making peace after conflicts, improving the working mechanism of the UN Security Council.
On May 25, 2018, at the meeting of the Asia-Pacific Group held at the UN, participating countries agreed to nominate Vietnam to be the only candidate of the group for the post of non-permanent member at the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 term. The election will be held in June 2019. The nomination has proven the fact that countries in the region highly appreciate the role and capabilities of Vietnam.

Newly-appointed ambassador to Japan and Marshall Islands Vu Hong Nam: Overseas Vietnamese affairs have been on par with the current development of time
After the success of the 29th Diplomatic Conference held in 2016, we have completed half of the Action program of the Government in promoting Resolution 36 of the Politburo on the overseas Vietnamese affairs for the period of 2016-2020. In just two years, which are not a very long period of time, the work has seen noticeable changes, bringing about breakthroughs and achievements, contributing to attracting and promoting all resources for the cause of national construction and development.
The remarkable point of the work is that it has been on par with the current development of the time, focusing on immediate demands of the country in the context of incoming Industry 4.0 to call on overseas Vietnam to make contribution. Most noticeably, the diplomatic sector has approached the group of young overseas Vietnamese, who are well-trained, dynamic and creative, but still hold a loose connection with the homeland. With this breakthrough, the overseas Vietnamese affairs have initially gathered young overseas Vietnamese intellectuals for carrying out detailed missions in developing the country.
