The ceremony was attended by Police Commissioner Faisal Shahkar, the U.N. Police Adviser in the Department of Peace Operations, and U.N. Resident Coordinator Pauline Tamesis, among others.

Addressing the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang emphasized that it is a significant milestone for the Vietnam People's Public Security force to deploy a unit for U.N. peacekeeping operations. This marks a new step following the initial success of sending officers from the Vietnam Ministry of Public Security participating individually in U.N. peacekeeping missions. He expressed confidence that the members of the unit would demonstrate a high sense of responsibility in carrying out tasks.

Police Commissioner Faisal Shahkar expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese government for its support and cooperation with the U.N. Police, hoping that this collaboration will continue to expand in the future. He described the establishment of this unit as a historic milestone, highlighting Vietnam's growing role and contribution to regional and global peace and security.

The Peacekeeping Police Unit Rotation 1, when deployed to a specific area, will undertake tasks, such as enhancing security for the area and U.N. agencies, supporting social order for the host police force, contributing to the safety of civilians, and participating in humanitarian relief activities to enforce human rights protection. According to U.N. regulations, countries sending peacekeeping police units can participate in three forms: individual officers, specialized police teams, and armed police teams.
