The Vietnamese official made the affirmation when addressing a conference themed “Two centuries of friendship, two decades of strategic partnership” virtually hosted by the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg on December 15.

Vietnam and Russia issued a joint statement on the vision of their comprehensive strategic partnership by 2030 on the occasion of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official visit to Russia recently, she said, noting that the statement demonstrates determination of the high-ranking leaders in further expanding the Vietnam - Russia strategic cooperation to lay a foundation for closer cooperation between the two countries.

Presentations at the event spotlighted fruitful development of the Vietnam - Russia relationship in all areas of politics, economy, trade, investment, security - defense, and education - training since the two sides set up the strategic partnership in 2001 and the comprehensive strategic partnership in 2012.

Exchange of delegations and meetings at all levels, especially high-level, between the two countries have been maintained regularly, while the economic and trade cooperation has developed dynamically.

The defense - security ties have been promoted, playing a pivotal role in the bilateral relations.

Cooperation in education, culture and tourism, partnership between localities, and people-to-people exchange have been flourishing, contributing to strengthening understanding and friendship between the two countries’ people.

At the event, delegates discussed and agreed on a number of programs and activities to celebrate the 10th signing anniversary of the Declaration on the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership in 2022.
